The Miniature American Shepherd is a small to medium-sized dog, well-proportioned and agile and athletic in appearance. Its height at the withers generally ranges from 33 to 46 cm. Its expression is alert and intelligent, with almond-shaped eyes that can be a variety of colors, including heterochromia (two different-colored eyes).
Its coat is one of its most attractive features: double, medium-length, and weather-resistant, it comes in a wonderful variety of colors, including blue merle, red merle, black, and red, with or without tan and white markings. The tail can be naturally long or short (NBT - Natural Bobtail).
