The Miniature American Shepherd, often affectionately called the MAS, is a relatively young breed whose history is closely linked to that of its "big brother," the Australian Shepherd. Developed in the United States starting in the 1960s, the goal was to select dogs with the same intelligence, agility, and herding instincts as the Australian Shepherd, but in a smaller, more versatile size.
Officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2015 and subsequently by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the MAS has rapidly spread worldwide, winning over herding dog lovers and families with its extraordinary combination of beauty and intelligence.
